East Vancouver Home Renovation Upgrade
A young professional family, wishing to remain in their home, needed an additional bedroom for their growing children. Nikari Homes stepped in to reconfigure the existing master bedroom into two separate rooms, allowing each child to have their own space.
The main floor was initially fragmented and not very functional. Nikari Homes installed a structural beam to open up the entire floor, creating a more spacious and usable area. During the renovation, they discovered that previous work had lowered the ceilings to cover old lath and plaster. By raising the ceilings an additional 18 inches, they enhanced the open feel of the space.
Nikari Homes also leveled the subfloors, which were in poor condition, preparing them for hardwood installation on both the main and upper floors. They removed a wall next to the staircase and built a new set of stairs leading to the second floor. The open design and new railings contributed to a larger, more open look.
Custom millwork was installed for a bar area adjacent to the dining room, as well as in the children's rooms and the new master bedroom. To improve the home's comfort, Nikari Homes added insulation and an air barrier within the walls and attic. They also upgraded the existing heating system to a heat pump with air conditioning and installed new ductwork in previously unheated areas. These enhancements resulted in a more consistent and comfortable living environment for the family.
